TBILISI, DFWatch–Georgia’s woman defense minister decided to live the life of a soldier and discovered that the food they are being served is not good enough.

The last few days, Tina Khidasheli has been living as a soldier. At a presentation of a new diner on Wednesday, she criticized the state-owned food company which supplies the army with food.

She said she will check the soldiers’ nutrition from now on.

The defense minister also reprimanded construction companies which build military bases. She said she plans to go to every base and look closer at the problems soldiers have.

Providing Nutrition of the State Ltd is the company that since February 15 has been supplying the Georgian army with food, after the previous supplier, Georgian Nutrition, was blamed over a food poisoning incident.

PNS was established and is fully owned by the Ministry of Economy, which has also owned previous food supply companies.

The company’s representatives said in March that their only goal was to supply the with high quality nutrition. They explained that the company on average spends 15 laris (USD 6.5) per day per soldier.

A few months after this promise, the defense minister expressed her dissatisfaction with the services of the company, which has not yet answered her criticism.
