“Nothing urgent is happening in Georgia which would prove it necessary to hold the debate,” Tina Khidasheli, Member of Parliament for Georgian Dream, wrote on Facebook.

TBILISI, DFWatch–The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, PACE, did not go through with an announced discussion about the ‘deteriorating situation’ in Georgia.

During the session which is ongoing in Strasbourg a majority of 73 members voted against discussing this topic, while 58 members wanted to have such a debate.

Tina Khidasheli, a member of parliament for the Georgian Dream coalition who is attending the session, wrote on her Facebook page that PACE turned down a proposal from the European People’s Party (EPP) to discuss the issue of the ‘deteriorating situation’ in the country.

“They said nothing urgent is happening in Georgia which would prove it necessary to hold the debate,” she wrote.
