TBILISI, DFWatch — US Secretary of State has had a phone conversation with President Mikheil Saakashvili and Bidzina Ivanishvili, who leads a coalition that won the parliamentary election.

Both the president’s and the Georgian Dream’s press offices separately told about the phone call with Hillary Clinton.

President Saakashvili admitted defeat in election and said his political force is moving into opposition. Accordingly, the victorious Georgian Dream coalition will form a government. It is already said that coalition leader Bidzina Ivanishvili will be prime minister.

According to president’s administration, Saakashvili Thursday evening had a phone conversation with Hillary Clinton on the initiative of the Secretary of State.

Main topic of conversation was the post-election period. Specifically, it was about the harassment which is taking place at district and central election commissions.

Georgian Dream’s press office informs that the US Secretary of State congratulated Ivanishvili and his team with winning the election.

The coalition leader and the Secretary of State both underlined the importance of the US-Georgia’s strategic partnership, an agreement formed in the wake of the 2008 Russia-Georgia war. They spoke about further cooperation between the US and Georgia. Clinton thanked Bidzina Ivanishvili for his aspiration to further deepen relations between the two countries. Thecoalition leader on his part noted the important role US plays in Georgia’s democratic development.
