TBILISI, DFWatch – A second Bollywood film is being filmed in Georgia on the initiative of Georgia’s National Investment Agency. The film tells a story set in Georgia in the Middle Ages. Indian actors and actresses play the roles of a Georgian king and other characters.

The film is a cooperation between Georgia’s National Investment Agency and Indian producers and has been in production for two years already.

This is the second Indian film filmed in Georgia. The first one became a blockbuster in India and is titled BILLA. After its success, the Indian producers returned to Georgia on invitation from Georgia’s Economy Ministry. Their second film is more historical in nature and is titled Irandam Ullagam, or The Other World.

Keti Bochorishvili, chair of Georgia’s National Investment Agency, says the films has a budget of 5 USD million.

She says the film is set in medieval Georgia. It is full of battle scenes and 3D graphics. Filming is scheduled to last 60 days and is currently taking place in the Kakheti region in eastern Georgia.

The well-known Indian film director Selva Rajavan is the film’s director. The main characters play popular actors and actresses. They also invited well-known graphic-supervisor who worked on the Avatar movie. Around 50 Georgian professionals are involved in the process. Indian producers actively cooperating with Georgia; with Studia Metro and Georgian Film.

The film makers visited sites in almost every region of Georgia and selected locations in Dartlo in Tusheti for the medieval village; the Vardzia cave complex in Javakheti and Tbilisi.

About 70 Georgian actors and actresses and 50 extras participate in a process. Some of them will have to learn Indian.
