Bus overturned in Giresun. Accidents are common along the road between Istanbul and Georgia. (IPN.)

TBILISI, DFWatch – Another accident along the highway most visitors to Georgia arrive on left three Georgians slightly injured.

The accident happened Tuesday evening as the bus driver lost control while trying to overtake a car. The bus veered off the road and overturned.

Nine of the passengers were Georgians. Turkish media report that some of the passengers are seriously injured.

In addition to tourists arriving that way, many Georgians also go to Turkey along this road for work or to visit family. Since it’s expensive to fly, people choose to go by bus or car, which takes more than day to drive along an accident-prone road.

25 died and 16 were injured in December 2011 when a bus crashed with a truck on the road between Diyarbakır and Batman.

One year ago, in June 2011, a bus overturned and caught fire in Giresun. Nine burned to death and 33 were injured.
