TBILISI, DFWatch–The Georgian president pardoned 155 prisoners on Wednesday. 105 of them will leave jail today.

The commission met on February 21-22, and considered 1,178 cases. 105 were completely pardoned, while the rest had their sentences reduced, according to commission head Zviad Koridze.

The decree about pardoning prisoners was issued on Wednesday.

Some of those pardoned are women.

Those pardoned have sentences ranging from light to serious crimes. None are convicted of premeditated crimes.

There are two commissions in Georgia considering applications for pardon; one under the president and one under the Prison Ministry.
